MacKay Introduction
George Leslie MacKay (1844-1901) |
MOTTOThe motto of MacKay Medical College is “Worship God, love people, humbly forbear, pursue excellence.” MISSIONThe mission of MacKay Medical College is inspired by the selfless dedication of Dr. George Leslie MacKay. In “My Final Resting Place,” a poem penned just before his death, he wrote, “My heartstrings to Taiwan can never be cut. I devote my life to this island.” We aim to inculcate in students this same spirit of devotion and charity in keeping with the admonition of St. Paul, “Let us not become weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we shall reap a harvest, if we do not give up.” (NIV, Epistle to the Galatians 6:9) We strive for quality education and encourage research excellence so that our graduates are well-prepared to become outstanding medical professionals who love others as well as themselves. In addition, we educate our students to have compassion for patients who live in rural communities where medical resources and health care are scarce. GOALS• To nurture elite medical professionals who are holistically educated in body, mind, and spirit to continue lifelong learning that is committed to social responsibility with integrity, cultural sensitivity, and professional knowledge. |
