Student Dormitories

The dormitory is the focus of daily student life. In particular, we have endeavored to capture the spirit of residential halls from the world’s leading universities. Residents are encouraged to participate in self-management and to plan activities and courses in conjunction with the college staff so that many teaching activities can be offered in the dormitory area.

The dormitory buildings accommodate a total of 700 beds. Eight students (in double rooms) form a family-style accommodation unit of 165 square meters. Each unit contains a living room, bathroom, and four bedrooms which are furnished with Internet, air conditioning, washer, dryer, refrigerator, and stove for eight students. Access to the dormitory is controlled by a door sensing system. Security is on duty for 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The fire alarm system is installed according to the standard fire code. In addition to accommodating students, the dormitory also has a maternity room, a study lounge, and an exhibition hall, providing a desirable living environment on campus.

MMC Community Service and Social Responsibility

To follow the example of Dr. MacKay, who cared for the under privileged, both faculty members and students of MacKay Medical College voluntarily form a healthcare team, aiming at providing medical aid and social welfare for aboriginal people groups and citizens living in remote areas during winter and summer vacations every year. For instance, MMC students participated in the rehabilitation and child care work in Taromak, an aboriginal community still devastated by the 2009 August 8th Storm. In addition to student professional knowledge and skills, MMC also highly values the importance of educating students to become medical personnel with a spirit of sacrifice, devotion, and service. To encourage students to care for society, serve with dedication, and take care of minority groups, MMC offers students opportunities not only to tutor disadvantaged students, but also to serve senior citizens with disabilities or other debilitating conditions such as dementia at Suang-Lien Elderly Center in Sanzhi.
